If you love bugs AND gags (some bin-juice and poo-related) - it’s a MUST!

Beastie Bros : The Cabbage Juice Crime’ is a giggle-filled, fast-paced, illustrated throughout, new younger reader series for ages 6+ by Children’s author:illustrator David O’Connell, published by Scholastic. If you love bugs AND gags (some bin-juice and poo-related) - it’s a MUST! I couldn’t put it down! Absolutely for fans of Grimwood, Bunny vs Monkey, and InvestiGators.

Crime-fighting and mystery-solving are new to Bugtown’s most loyal brothers - Dribble, a snail with a passion for cute kittens, cabbage juice and inventing; and Dash, a custard-loving firefly who is adopted and has a wing disability.

One fine day, Dribble puts the finishing touches to his incredible Roboslug (for the purpose of making cabbage juice on a massive industrial scale for his own consumption), and takes it for a test drive with Dash to visit the Museum of Cool Stuff. A mechanical hiccup forces them to stop and inspect the trail of post-fart explosion escaping (cabbage) juice… and that’s when Roboslug is STOLEN! But by whom? And why? Dribble and Dash aren’t going to stand by and do nothing, especially when the local police force seems to be a little unreliable.

Time to hop on Dribble’s skateboard, follow the clues to the villain’s lair, and - most importantly - make sure Dash doesn’t get too hungry along the way. (A zombie-style feeding frenzy, where he accidentally snacks on snails, must be avoided at all costs. He’d never forgive himself for eating his bro, bruh!!)

Will Dribble and Dash catch up with the two mischievous dung beetles of the underworld? And what exactly do these two sparky opportunistwant with the Roboslug?

Look out for the nerdy worm for helpful hints and tips throughout, and some useful information on mini-beast society, including alternative terminology for the days of the week and some actual real world bug facts… look out for the frequent comedy acts between the little beetles, spiders and flies at the edges of the pages… enjoy the occasional comic strips too.

It’s an hilarious read, laugh-out-loud, humour for young and old(er) to enjoy. Embracing teamwork, community, friendship, recycling, awareness of our smaller earth-bound neighbours, and some STEAM invention fun… ‘Beastie Bros : The Cabbage Juice Crime’ is a bugtastic top pick from me - I can’t wait to read the next instalment, ‘Beastie Bros : Dungeons and Dragonflies’!
